We’re excited to announce that Plan Group has been selected to deliver the Technology scope of work for Stage 2 of the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project!
Stage 2 of the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project (OLRT) is the new, east, and west extension—and is expected to significantly improve the functionality of Ottawa’s existing public transportation system upon completion in 2025. With 16 new stations and one main storage facility, the OLRT Stage 2 will enable 77% of the city’s inhabitants to reside within five kilometers of a railway! In other words, by supporting the delivery of this project, we also get to have a hand in delivering convenient & sustainable transportation services to over 750,000 Canadians currently residing in the city of Ottawa.
As the lead Technology subcontractor on this project, Plan Group will be tasked with installing and commissioning the OLRT Stage 2 communications network. This is a vital aspect of the project because the work that we’re delivering will—you guessed it—bring the project to life. In typical Plan Group Technology fashion, we’ll demonstrate brains over brawn, focusing more on the strategic delivery and complete integration of the project’s complex communications systems..
Plan Group has provided service and communications installation work for various transportation partners throughout the Ottawa Region for the past five years. Because of this, we know exactly what to look out for to help support the successful delivery and integration of this new stage in the project.
We are thankful for our service technicians in Ottawa, who have gone above and beyond to provide impeccable service for our clients in the transportation sector. Our highly reputable team is part of what helped #TeamPlanGroup establish itself as the best choice for this significant undertaking.
The pursuit of this project was a collaborative effort with invaluable support from our team in Toronto; however, this recent win would not have been possible without the hard work and countless hours put in by Technology Director, Harry Jutila, and the entire team in Ottawa. Gabriel Madison, who looked after the technicians providing impeccable service during Phase I, will be the Project Manager overseeing this very challenging endeavour.
Congratulations to everyone involved! We look forward to embracing this opportunity to continue growing our business in the Nation’s Capital!
