On March 28th, 2023, EllisDon and its partners received a certificate of substantial performance for the Humber Meadows Long-Term Care Home. Located at 2109 Finch Avenue, the facility consists of 320 beds and was built using a variety of measures to help streamline the construction process. The completion of this facility marks an important milestone in Humber River Hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care to the community. It also represents the hard work, dedication, and positive attitude of the entire project team, who worked tirelessly to bring it to life.
“This is a great achievement for the entire team involved in the construction of this facility, as well as for Ontario’s health care system. It is a testament to the commitment, hard work, and dedication of our partners and the talented team of individuals involved in making this project a reality.”
Chris Morris – Executive Vice President, Mechanical
Humber River Hospital is one of Canada’s largest regional acute care hospitals, serving a catchment area of over 850,000 people in the northwest Greater Toronto Area. This new addition to the Humber River Hospital grounds will help ensure the region has the resources to offer accommodation, comfort, and the best possible care for its residents at every stage of life. Fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, comfortable accommodations, and modern amenities, the facility will enable Humber River Hospital to continue providing high-quality care to the growing population of North York.
As the lead mechanical sub-contractor on this project, Plan Group was tasked with delivering and installing the facility’s HVAC, piping, and refrigeration systems. In response to project-specific construction needs, we modified our approach focus on the planning stage of the project to ensure safe and efficient design, procurement, and installation—prioritizing attention to detail, innovative thinking, and precision every step of the way.
The hospital will continue to work diligently to complete the remaining activities to achieve total performance. In the meantime, we would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved in the success of this project.
