#TeamPlanGroup has successfully delivered the LCBO’s new head office in Toronto’s Downtown Waterfront area—Let’s talk about it
Our work at 100 Queens Quay East began in 2018 when EllisDon awarded us the base build contract for installing all the electrical and mechanical systems. We must have made quite the impression because, in April 2021, we were also selected to build a brand-new head office space for The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) with Vestacon.
The LCBO is a Crown corporation that retails and distributes alcoholic beverages throughout the Canadian province of Ontario. They employ over 8,000 people and generate an annual net income of $2.28 billion (CAD). Approximately 225,000 square feet of the 100 Queens Quay East office tower was reserved for their head office space—and Plan Group seized the opportunity to deliver it.
LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability. As the complete mechanical, electrical and technology subcontractor, we were tasked with the additional responsibility of helping the building obtain LEED Platinum Certification. As such, for this project, we prioritized the installation of high-efficiency interior lighting systems and HVAC systems; helping our client save money, improve efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and create a healthier working environment.
Full 3D BIM coordination to LOD 350/400
Our approach to BIM modelling was centred around the specific needs of our client, and we made sure to apply as much detail as possible to the Model. As a result, we won TWO CanBIM Innovation Spotlight Awards in 2019; Best in Innovation and The Digital Supply Chain & Fabrication Award.
Modular fabrication of mechanical plant rooms
Modularisation encourages speedy construction, with the added benefit of minimum onsite labour, superior quality and significant waste reduction.
Under Floor Ventilation System
This type of system provides vastly improved air quality and ventilation efficiency, while also reducing energy consumption by up to 30%.
We would like to give a special thanks to EllisDon, Vestacon, Menkes Development and Govan Brown for their integral role in delivering this monumental project. Its successful delivery would not have been possible without their partnership.
The work we performed at 100 Queens Quey East exemplifies Plan Group’s core strengths: being trusted partners, integrated thinkers, and solution finders.
