It was a great week last week for our Mechanical Department, securing not one, but two, Long-Term Care Centre projects in Ontario.
If nothing else, the Covid-19 pandemic in Ontario has shown we need to protect our most vulnerable. With over 2.3 million senior citizens (65+) in Ontario (2018), there is a strong need for Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities to accommodate the specific healthcare needs of this vulnerable population.
In July 2020, the Government of Ontario announced a new plan, and dedicated funding, to improve both the care and capacity for these critical facilities.
We are excited to announce 2 LTC contracts have been awarded to the Mechanical team.
Humber River Hospital’s 2111 Finch Avenue site will be home to North York’s newest Long-Term Care home, consisting of 320 beds. In order to meet the demanding and short construction timelines on the project, the Hospital has committed to using variety of measures to accelerate the build including modular construction and rapid procurement.
Located in the Sheridan Park Corporate Centre, in Mississauga, this new Long-Term Care campus will consist of an impressive 640 beds spread across a long-term care home and hospice. Pictured above, the project is scheduled for completion in 2021.
As the chosen Mechanical partner for both projects, Plan Group understands the urgent need for these facilities. With their accelerated schedules, our team will need to think outside of the box to emphasize the planning stages of each project, so we can design, procure and install safely and quickly. We are up to the challenge, and we are confident our team can complete each project successfully in a matter of months, not years.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
