Plan Group is proud to have taken part in delivering this historical project in the heart of downtown Toronto.
After it’s highly anticipated restoration, this week Toronto’s Massey Hall officially reopened. Since 2018 the theatre has been closed, as a brand-new tower was constructed and the historical theatre space renovated.
For this project, Plan Group was tasked with preforming a series of mechanical restorations to help the keep the 127-year-old National historic site up to par with today’s health and safety standards. Our team made good use of the Enwave Deep Lake Water Cooling (DLWC) system to support a more sustainable option for heating and cooling throughout the entire space. We integrated a Building Automation System (BAS) which will allow the building to quickly adapt to changes in temperature and CO2 levels. The BAS is an important enhancement to the functionality of the building as those levels can change drastically, and can present safety concerns, when large volumes of people occupy the space rather quickly. We also updated the storm systems by installing Rainwater Leaders (RWL) throughout Massey Hall’s new tower. This job was challenging every step of the way, but the team at Massey Hall exceed all expectations, stayed positive, and embraced the complexity of the job.
Congratulations to our incredible mechanical team on the successful delivery of the mechanical scope of work for this project.
